Since posting the blog below about the MES expansion, I've received emails asking if there are more photos of the inside of the building. We are blessed to have a photo fairy on the Outer Banks, so following are links to more pictures of the inside of the WPA gym. The assortment shows the good, the bad and the ugly.

Tear away the ugly and you have the incredible original fabric. Most of what these pictures show is the renovations done by the county through the years to accommodate various uses. This building was built by our forefathers to last through the ages. Not like the ones built today ... if you really want to know the true picture ... go see it for yourself. It is an amazing building that needs to continue to be used/recycled as a tribute to an "amazing generation" so that future generations could live in freedom.
ReplyDeleteI was upstairs when in the eight grade. There were two class rooms upstairs. We had dances downstairs (remember the square dancing with plenty of room). There are so many uses for space this big. Just because it is old does not mean it is bad.
